Army IRR to Reserve

Anyone who serves in the military has an initial eight-year commitment.

Most Soldiers sign an Active Duty Contract on a 4x4 (four years active, four years Army IRR), and most Army Reserve and National Guard Soldiers sign a 6x2 (six years drilling, two years Army IRR) contract.

So what does that mean? It means that while you are serving in the Army IRR you are considered inactive Army Reserve Soldiers to be called upon if ever needed.

Since you are considered inactive Army Reserve Soldiers, you are easily able to transfer into the standard Army Reserve (TPU) without the need for a new contract, returning to Basic/AIT, or having to go to MEPS!

We simply work together to find a unit closest to you or if interested we discuss reclass/rebranch opportunities you qualify for. You then sign a few transfer forms and provide your photo ID and within a week you are transferred into the Army Reserve!

Want more of an incentive? We are now able to transfer enlisted Soldiers into the Army Reserve on a "try one" option, this means you only have a one-year commitment to the Army Reserve to allow you to try it out and make sure it fits your life. If it doesn't, you simply return to the Army IRR after the year is completed. However, if you decide to stay you will be in your one-year reenlistment window immediately upon transferring which allows you to reenlist for a bonus if one is available for your MOS!

Previous enlisted/officer Active Duty? You also have the option to make a three-year commitment for a large cash bonus!
